How to Deal Soundtrack featuring The Donnas, The Flaming Lips, The Music, Beth Orton, Liz Phair, and Skye Sweetnam
Scheduled for release on July 8th
Capitol Records proudly announces the July 8th release of the original motion picture soundtrack to the forthcoming
New Line Cinema romantic drama How to Deal. The contemporary music compilation introduces
newly signed Capitol recording artist, Skye Sweetnam, performing the soundtrack's lead single,
"Billy S." The music on How to Deal is an ambitious collection that spans genres and generations,
with five new songs exclusive to the soundtrack, and two recorded specifically for the film itself.
Skye Sweetnam is a talented-beyond her years young girl (she's 15) from a small Canadian town
(the Toronto sub-suburb Bolton, pop. 15,000) who creates indelible pop anthems of teen rebellion straight from the reality of her so-called life
(yes, she writes and co-writes all her songs, tapping everything from electronica to pop-punk -- sometimes in the same song!).
How to Deal stars Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember) as Halley, a high school student who is
disillusioned with love after seeing the many dysfunctional relationships around her. Her divorced parents have no clue.
Her sister is obsessed with planning the perfect marriage. But nothing is more lame than the shallow cheerleaders
at her school and their jock boyfriends. Convinced that all relationships are doomed, Halley has given up on even seeking it.
But when a tragic event in her life leads to a romantic encounter with a young man (Gosford Park's Trent Ford), Halley realizes that true love
can sometimes lie in the most unexpected places. The film also stars Allison Janney (The West Wing), Peter Gallagher (American Beauty), and
Alexandra Holden (The Hot Chick). Adapted by Neena Beber from a series of successful teen novels by
Sarah Dessen, How to Deal is directed by Clare Kilner. The film opens nationwide on July 18th
